COTTAVOZ began painting at the age of 14, he enrolled at the Beaux-Arts in Lyon and then forced to spend two years at the STO in Austria (Labor Department compulsory during the Second World War). André Cottavoz (1922 – 2012) Peintre et lithographe. École de Lyon – École de Paris – Sanzisme ou "Nouvelle Figuration de l’École de Lyon". Naît le 22 juillet 1922 à St Marcellin (Isère). COTTAVOZ commence à peintre dès l’âge de 14 ans, il s’inscrit aux Beaux-Arts à Lyon puis contraint de passer 2 années au STO en Autriche (Service du Travail Obligatoire pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale). Après-guerre, il suivra les cours de « La grande Chaumière » à Paris puis rencontre Garbell
